PHYSICAL THERAPY





Pediatric physical therapy focuses on improving overall gross motor and functional mobility skills in children and babies. Here at CFTS, we strive to help children learn to successfully perform these skills in a fun and friendly way, while helping to better their overall quality of life.



Skills we work on





STRENGTH



We strive to improve your child's overall strength through a variety of play based exercises



GAIT ABNORMALITIES



We will analyze your child's walking pattern and work to improve any gait abnormalities such as toe walking, in-toeing, out-toeing, etc.



BALANCE



We help to improve your child's overall balance in single leg and dual leg activities



COORDINATION



We aim to improve your child's overall bilateral coordination through a variety of patient specific activities to support bettered participation in age appropriate play



OBJECT MANIPULATION



Through sport play, we can help to improve your child's overall ball skills in play like kicking, catching and throwing



AGILITY



Quick movements in sessions are utilized to improve your child's overall endurance, speed and agility in play

Meet our people



dr. saira rattansi



DPT - CO-LEAD
Longwood and Orange City



Saira graduated from the University of Toronto with her BS degree before graduating from Des Moines University with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She loves working with clients to achieve mobility goals in a fun, developmentally appropriate and family centered way. Saira has lived in Tanzania, Canada and the US. With all of that travel, she has learned 4 different languages and even climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro. She says that her 2 children inspire her to be a better person and therapist every day.



Dr. Shelby shriver



DPT - CO-LEAD
Longwood and Orange City



Shelby graduated from the University of Florida with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy before joining CFTS. She enjoys incorporating sport play into sessions as well as giving patients options in sessions to help with decision making skills. Her favorite items in session include cones, Squigz and scooter boards. In her free time, she enjoys cuddling her golden retriever, working out, reading, completing DIYs/crafts and trying out local eateries! Fun fact: Shelby loves to collect art from countries that she travels to and display them in her home.



Julie Friesl



MPT
Orange City



Julie graduated in 1997 with her Masters in Physical Therapy. She has worked with CFTS for over 10 years. She loves working with our younger children and helping them to learn to walk. She says that seeing the patient and the parent achieve this milestone is amazing. She loves utilizing a variety of equipment in session, but especially therapy balls because they have so many uses. She also wants parents to know that tummy time is important for any aged kid. Outside of work she enjoys running, working out, going to the beach, reading, baking and spending time with her family. Fun fact: she has been skydiving in California.



Kim hernandez



PTA
Longwood and Orange City



Kim graduated in 2025 and has been working with CFTS since she graduated. She enjoys getting to know patients and seeing them excel at difficult activities. She loves utilizing a variety of equipment in session, but especially therapy balls because they have so many uses. She also likes to focus on proprioceptive input to help calm and relax patients. She wants parents to know that training coordination is key! working on coordination works the brain. Outside of work she enjoys reading, singing, dancing, gardening and doing DIY activities. Fun fact: she played the violin for 10 years.



jennifer swartz



PTA
Longwood



Jennifer graduated in 2021 with her PTA degree and then in 2024 with her bachelor's in Health Science. She has worked with CFTS since 2025. She loves working with our younger children and helping them to master new skills. She also wants parents to know that you don't need big/fancy/expensive equipment to play and get strong! Anything can be utilized for functional play. Outside of work she enjoys reading/writing, embroidering and watching K-dramas.
